NZMCA: New Zealand Motor Caravanners Association

What the NZMCA offers: member parks, self-containment certification, rallies, and why many Kiwi campervan owners join.

What is the NZMCA?

The New Zealand Motor Caravanners Association (NZMCA) is the main club for motorhome and campervan owners in NZ. Membership gives access to over 1,100 member parks (often low-cost or free overnight stops), magazine, rallies, and advocacy. Many members use it for self-containment certification and discounts.

Member Parks

NZMCA parks are private properties (farms, clubs, etc.) that allow members to stay. Facilities vary; often basic (no power, sometimes water). You must be a current member and follow park rules. Popular in regions with limited freedom camping.

Self-Containment

NZMCA has certified self-containment inspectors. Members can get their vehicle certified to NZS 5465 and receive a green (or formerly blue) self-containment warrant — blue vs green self-containment explains the difference (blue expires 7 June 2026). Re-certification when the warrant expires. Non-members can also use NZMCA inspectors in some cases; check the NZMCA website.

Joining

Join online or via the office. Annual fee (check current price on nzmca.org.nz). Worth it if you use parks, need certification, or want the community and magazine.
